How to use Checkbook Register Excel Template?

# Step 1 – Settings

Firstly, start with configuring your settings to customize the file for your needs.

You can fill out the lists for your:

• Transactional Types
• Categories
• Financial Institutions

Also, you can define the Starting Date and the Starting Balance of your check register book. Lastly, you can write the currency that you use for your transactions.

# Step 2 – Data Input

This is the main area to record your transactions.

Here you will:

• Enter the date of the transaction
• Select the financial institution via which you record withdrawal or Deposit
• Select the Type and Category of your transaction
• Write a description for your transaction
• Record the amount to the Withdrawal or Deposit column
• Select the Status: Cleared or Pending

Then the Balance on the related date will be calculated automatically.

# Step 3 – Dashboard

On the dashboard, you can analyze the general overview of your checkbook transactions.

You can first see the Today’s date with Current Balance.

Also, you’ll be able to see the Deposit, Withdrawal and Net Amounts for both Cleared and Pending transactions.

Lastly, you’ll also see a monthly breakdown of your cashflow summary.
